Parivartan -A Environment Education and Tree Plantation campaign

Pahal’ organized a special focused program to launch “PARIVARTAN 2009” A Environment Education and Tree Plantation campaign to address climate change issue in colaboration with Eco-Clubs of Distt. Education Department Jalandhar created under NGC of Govt. of India. Under the guidence of S.G.K.P. sharma Distt. Science supervisor 250 Eco-Club incharges attended has program in Guru Nanak Dev Distt. Library Jalandhar. Sh. J.P. Chopra, Sr. Member ‘Pahal’, an agriculturist delivered a lecture and said that man deterioration of Environment resulting in global warming. Punjab is using maximum quantity of pesticides per nactare in the country where as land under forest is minimum. Moreover under ground water is becomming toxic and going down at an alarming rate.

Prof. Lakhbir Singh said there is ample scope of mega campaign to mobalize youth, NGO and civil society to fight climate change because India is the only country with large number of young population. While refering to copenhagen protocol to present global warming and climate changes.

All 250 Eco-Clubs were advised to plant and nurture maximum trees in the school openion for environment consometion. Amoung others there were comdt. B.S. Lali, Sh. Gurdaver Singh, Mrs Harvinder Kaur, Shinder Pal Kaur, Sarpanch Mohan Lal, Jasbir Singh and Satvir Singh, Mrs. Harvinder Kaur conducted the program.
