Youth organization ‘PAHAL’ organized a meeting of Project. Implementation and monitoring committee (PIMC) for Self Help Group being promoted under the patronage of NABARD in rural Distt. Kapurthala. Sh. Ravinder Jaiswal DDM NABARD presided over the meeting and Sh. V.K. Sachdeva Chief District Lead Manager LDM was the guest of Honour. Prof. Lakhbir Singh convened the meeting Prof. Singh told the delegates that ‘PAHAL’ has formed 97 SHG in the rural area of Kapurthala out of which 50 has been linked with various Banks.

These SHG comprise 1085 women members from various villages, who could save Rs. 705916/- though their small savings, while availing credit linkage of Rs. 528000 they have inter loaning a mentionable amount of Rs. 1173149/-. Along with other Bank Managers there were Sh. P.K. Jain manager PNB Sultanpur Lodhi, Sh. Mohinder Singh manager cooperative Bank Kabir Pur, Mrs. Asha Rani from development Deptt. Kapurthala, Sh. Rajinder Singh and Jasbir Shalapuri also attended this meeting. Sh. Ravinder Jaiswal DDM NABARD said that financial empowerment of rural women will give new direction to rural development Sh. V.K. Sachdeva called it a historical achievement to form large number of groups with small savings and bank credit linkage. I was told that the willing member of different SHGs will e given free skill training and will be inspired to start their small entrepreneurs.
