PAHAL( NGO), Distt. Health Department Jalandhar and Indian Red cross Society Distt Branch Jalandhar jointly organized a special program to celebrate WORLDBLOOD DONOR DAY 2010 IN RED CROSS BHAWAN JALANDHAR. Sh Pryank Bharti D C jalandhar praised all the NGos who contributed in mobilization of blood in the last year. Dr. S K Gupta Civil Surgeon Jalandhar told about the judicious transfusion through component therapy. Dr. Gagandeep Singh BTO told that Jalandhar is leading in voluntary blood donation. Prof Lakhbir Singh told referring facts of WHO that 8 million units of blood are collected globally every year. Only 45% of these are donated in developing countries and transitional countries where more than 80 % of world’s population lives. It is because of lack of education and awareness that our masses particularly youth is not donating blood in large scale to meet the need of our nation and state. In Punjab we need about 2 lacs of blood units but we are able to collect only 40% of it voluntarily and rest is being met by replacement of by other unfair means.

Blood donation camp was organized on this occasion 35 young people from various places donated blood. In this special program, Dr. S.K.Gupta Civil Surgeon Jalandhar was the Chief Guest, Dr. Chander Mohan, Medical Supritendent resided over the function. Among others there were Ajay Sahni DMC, Dr. G.S.Nagi ACS, Dr. Vema, Dr. Sarita Verma Principal B.D.Arya, Sr. Charanjit Singh Channi, Chairman CT Group, Dr. Satish Sharma Principal DAV College Jalandhar, Sr. Harinder Singhb Sahota Sec.
