PAHAL leadership

After the unfortunate passing of Professor Lakhbir Singh on 7th August 2021, the torch of leadership was carried forward by his wife, Madam Harvinder Kaur, who took charge as the President of PAHAL. With the same passion and purpose, she began leading the organization across Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Mandi Gobindgarh, Shri Muktsar Sahib, Nakodar, and Amritsar.

Joining her in October 2021 was Mr. Mohit Rubel, who currently serves as the Head of Operations. Together, they have worked diligently to ensure that all programs are implemented effectively, honoring Prof. Lakhbir Singh’s vision.

In the same year that the Government abruptly discontinued the National Child Labour Project (NCLP)—a program dedicated to supporting underprivileged children—Madam Harvinder Kaur took swift action to ensure those children were not left behind. She established Umang Centres – Centres of Hope in Bhagat Singh Colony, Jalandhar. These centers now provide free education, stationery, and daily meals to children who were previously out of school or unable to access basic education.

In the spirit of service set forth by Prof. Lakhbir Singh, Madam Harvinder continues to organize blood donation camps, particularly in Jalandhar. She is widely recognized for having donated blood the maximum number of times by any female donor in Punjab. Her contributions echo the foundational values on which PAHAL was built.

What began as a small initiative by Prof. Lakhbir Singh and Madam Harvinder Kaur in 1996 has now grown into Punjab’s leading social development organization, continuing its journey of transformation and compassion under her leadership.
