World Literacy Day 2011

PAHAL celebrated World Literacy Day in special school being run under National Child Labour Project, Labour Department Jalandhar. Prof. Lakhbir Singh told that literacy rate in Punjab crossed the digit of 75% states quite decent, but actual condition in terms of Health, Education, Environment and languages is not good. Punjab requires lot of efforts to come out of serious problems of youth derailment. Policies for youth integrated development need to be framed and implemented. He added that for the holistic development; economic, social disparities need to be addressed. In this sitting benches for the children and staff furniture was provided with the contribution of generous donors. Mr. Avtar Singh Bawa S/o Sh. Avtar Henri former cabinet minister Punjab was the Chief Guest.

He promised to help PAHAL in the projects of Health and Education In this function generous contribution was made by Bharat Bushan, Ms.Satpal & Sons, Sh. Kashmir Singh Cheema social worker, Capt. Harmit Singh Khurana, S. Tara Singh Nagra, Mr. Kulbhushan, Mr. H.S. Kukoo for the Education support of school kids. Among others there were Kanwalpreet Singh Kalra, Sh. Kasturi Lal Shama, Ms. Gurmit Kaur President, Sh. Ravinder Kumar, Sh. Inderjit singh, Mr. Babbu, Mr. Ramit Dutta, Dr. S.S. Kairon, along with PAHAL members Mrs. Harvinder Kaur, Ms. Balbinder Kaur, Ms. Ritu.

The function was conducted by PAHAL Executive Ms. Pardeep Kaur, Mr. Danish dance instructor trained the school kids for dance which was performed by them in a very good Manner. Note books, pencils and sweets were distributed among the school students the donors were honoured by PAHAL.
